Groceries! is the first band to call themselves post-sleaze, and they’re happy to do it. Formed in 2024 as the first musical collaboration between high school sweethearts Gabby Fiszman (guitar, vocals) and Ed Graveline (drums), they quickly added scene-regulars Nate Ramer (bass, vocals) and Grant Gonzalez (guitar) to build out the tracklist for their debut LP, Human Extinctions, set to release July 18.
On Human Extinctions, Groceries! explores themes of psychedelic introspection, existential dread, and the practice of joy as an act of resistance.
Sonically, the Groceries! cart delivers explosive and syncopated drums that feed into melodically subversive post-punk bass. Gabby’s ‘beginner’s mind’ approach to guitar and pedals burst with creative urgency, emotive catchiness, and tripped-out noise that is only bolstered by Nate’s bold production. The songs are tied together by Gabby’s delicately raw vocals packaged into memorable melodies.
When Groceries! gets home from the supermarket, they take these ingredients and cook up a sound that’s sneakily one of a kind while still feeling familiar. Regardless, like “indie sleaze” itself, it’s just f*****g fun 🙂
